After last year’s sold out debut, the YouTube FanFest Convention is returning to Sydney once again! It’s bigger and better than ever and it’s only a week away!
On Friday 11th September, QANTAS Credit Union Arena will be host to some of the biggest internet personalities. Taking place in various countries all over the world, the showcase brings together some of the biggest YouTube stars for live performances and talks which offers “an exciting mix of music, comedy, fashion, dance and beauty all together on one stage.”
This year, see some of YouTube’s hottest stars, including US comedy sensation Jenna Marbles, beauty guru Bethany Mota, ||Superwoman||, Timothy De La Ghetto, Connor Franta, Natalie Tran, SketchShe and many more.
Some of the biggest Aussie names to appear at this year’s convention include makeup guru Lauren Curtis and singer/actor Troye Sivan.
Curtis, who leads a glamorous life in Perth, is Australia’s most popular and successful beauty YouTuber, having over 3 million subscribers. With humble beginnings in her teenage bedroom just three years ago, Curtis has managed to develop her passion into a full-fledged beauty career.
Troye Sivan has a similar story. The South African-born Australian actor, singer, songwriter and YouTuber has had roles roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the Spud film trilogy, however he is most recognisable because of his YouTube videos and now blossoming music career.
In August 2014, Sivan released his first major label EP (after signing to EMI Australia), entitled TRXYE which peaked at number 5 on the American Billboard 200. In July of this year, Sivan announced his second major-label EP Wild. Not only has won a Teen Choice Award, but also in October 2014, Time named Sivan as one of the ’25 Most Influential Teens of 2014’. Now THAT is an effort to be proud of.
YouTube has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a creative outlet and social media platform and it will only continue to grow. It is these YouTube personalities, along with many others that are real testaments to the platform as they exemplify the amazing opportunities that can arise from having a career on YouTube.
The FanFest allows the unique opportunity of fans to get up close and personal with their YouTube heroes and see them perform live in the flesh.
Now, with the conventions touring all over the world, this is a great way to finally see your heroes come out from behind their cameras and computer screens!
Special Guests WALK THE MOON will also be performing their hit song ‘Shut Up and Dance’.
